Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown on Clinical Dental Practice in Nigeria

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound effects on oral healthcare services globally. Objective: main objective of this study was to determine the impact COVID -19 lockdown clinical dental practice in Nigeria and discuss how adverse could be mitigated. Methods: A cross-sectional self-administered pre-tested questionnaire-based survey consenting practitioners from different States geopolitical zones employed for study. Study participants were recruited by non-random convenience sampling. Data analyzed using Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. Results: total 105 out 142 respondents completed returned questionnaire giving a response rate 74%. While only about 47% public sector their clinics shut down, all private (100%) closed down during difference statistically significant (p=0.000).
